Some say children do better if they are off to an early start learning their ABC’s and 123’s. Others say wait until they are older, let kids be kids, and enjoy exploring life at their own young pace. I say that each child is different and has unique needs and interests, and that every child has a desire to discover, learn, see, hear, touch, feel, communicate, and experience. If your baby or young child is getting these needs filled, and is happily occupied and progressing, they will be reaching that goal. Some situations lead to these needs being filled naturally, learning alongside their parents and siblings. Other situations need more preparation, planning and materials to ensure that a child is happy and developing mentally, emotionally and physically. May the ideas and materials here add a bit of spark, direction for those wondering, “What and how do I teach my little one?”
